Youth Volleyball League

We offer four age brackets in our recreational volleyball league for youth between the ages of six and eighteen. Playing any sport is beneficial; however, volleyball is more than just a sport! It offers a lifetime of friendships, play, competition, and enjoyment. Our goal is to teach youth the physical aspects of volleyball while developing character-building skills such as leadership, teamwork, respect, and communication.

Frequently Asked Questions

When does the volleyball season start and end?

The season typically starts in early September and runs through mid-November.

What equipment does my child need?

Each player should have knee pads, athletic shoes, and water. Jerseys are provided by the league.

Are practices and games held on weekends?

Practices are during the week in the evenings, and games are primarily held on Saturdays.

Can my child be placed on a team with friends?

We do our best to accommodate requests, but placement is based on age, availability, and fairness of play.

I played on a Kings Grant Team in Fall 2025 but registered on the Thalia Malibu site -- Do I have to register with TMRL or KGLRA for Spring 2026?

For Spring 2026 if you are returning and wish to stay on the same team that you were on last year you should contact your previous coach to confirm which league that are registered with. There is no mandate that you must play for a particular league based on where you live. We will continue to work with our friends at KGLRA to help get players to the right registration site

DIVISION BREAKDOWN AND DETAILS

Teams are allowed a maximum of 12 players per team on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a team is full, we will create another one if needed.

We are always looking for volunteers to coach or assist with Practice and Game monitoring. No experience is needed. The main goal is for the kids to have fun playing volleyball. If you are interested please click the link in the signup form.

Practices will be held twice a week (Monday-Friday) at one of the elementary schools in the area. Games will be on a weeknight to be determined by the City, depending on school availability.

Coaches will be in contact within two weeks of signups ending with practice schedules and the league start date.

Please note that if you would like your child to move up an age division, it is based on the child's skill level, as well as approval from the city and the volleyball director.

*Players turning the age of a division on or before Sept 30th of the current school year to qualify to play in that division. Players can decide to "play up" if they turn the age of eligibility within the season of play. If you would like your child to "play up", Please register for the division in which your child should play, then send an email to [email protected] and [email protected] to request to "play up".
