Coach Pitch - 8U (Girls 7-8 years old)
Our program is designed to refresh the basic skills from Tee-Ball (Ages 4-6 years old) and build on those skills in fielding and hitting.
Requirements:
Players must provide their own Fielding Masks, Fielding Gloves, and Bat.
Coaches will provide advice on the color of Athletic pants
Cleats are suggested but not required.
We will provide a shared Batting Helmet. (Players may bring their own as well)
Recommendation:
We recommended that the children have learned the basics of throwing and batting, but is not required. Coaches will refresh some basics during practices.
Game Skills:
Batting: Children will be learning to hit from underhand tossed balls by a coach. The players will recieve a maximum of 5 pitches, unless extended by "foul balls". If the 5th pitch is a foul ball then an additional pitch will be thrown. This extends until the player hits fair or is called out on pitches.
Baserunning: Children will be taught when to run the bases and listening to the base coaches for guidance.
Fielding: Children will extend their skills of "running to the ball" and "stopping the play" with "how to get an out". This program begins to teach the concept of forced outs and identifying where the throw should go.
Player Safety: Children will be taught the importance of wearing Fielding Masks or Batter's helmet, and proper dug-out safety.
